The Lasso Tool selects anchor points and path segments by drawing a freeform selection area around them. It is useful for selecting complex path areas that are hard to select with the Direct Selection Tool.
Where to Find It
Press Q or select the Lasso icon (a rope) from the toolbar.
How to Use
- Draw selection: Click and drag to draw a freeform shape around the anchor points you want to select.
- Add: Hold Shift and draw to add to the current selection.
- Subtract: Hold Alt (Option) and draw to remove from the selection.
Pro Tips
- Use with complex vector illustrations where individual anchors are hard to click.
- Combine with the Direct Selection Tool for comprehensive path editing.
