The Loop Cut Tool adds a ring of edges across the entire mesh, following its topology flow. It is essential for adding geometry for detailed modeling without changing the mesh shape.
Where to Find It
In Edit Mode, press Ctrl+R or use Edge > Loop Cut and Slide.
How to Use
- Add cut: Press Ctrl+R, hover over the mesh to see the preview line.
- Position: Click to place the cut, then slide it by moving the mouse.
- Multiple cuts: Scroll the mouse wheel before clicking to add multiple evenly-spaced cuts.
- Confirm: Left-click to confirm the position, right-click to place it centered.
Pro Tips
- Hold Ctrl while sliding to snap to the middle of each edge.
- Use loop cuts to create edge loops for sharp subdivision surface creases.
