Key Settings
Inset:IDepth:I
The Inset Faces Tool creates a smaller copy of selected faces inside the original, with new connecting geometry. It is essential for creating panels, insets, and details on flat surfaces.
Where to Find It
In Edit Mode, select faces and press I or use Face > Inset Faces.
How to Use
- Inset: Select faces, press I, then move the mouse inward.
- Depth: After pressing I, move the mouse to set inset distance, then click to confirm.
- Individual: Press I I to inset each face individually.
- Outset: Move the mouse outward from the selection to create an outset.
Pro Tips
- Hold Ctrl while insetting to snap to grid increments.
- Use Inset combined with Extrude to create panel insets, bevels, and raised details.
