The Displace Modifier displaces vertices based on a texture or vertex weight. It creates terrain from planes, wrinkles on surfaces, and organic surface details.
Where to Find It
Select a mesh, go to Modifiers panel > Add Modifier > Displace.
How to Use
- Texture: Assign a cloud, noise, or image texture to drive the displacement.
- Strength: Higher values push vertices further in the displacement direction.
- Mid-level: Controls the neutral point — 0.5 means 50% gray does not displace.
Pro Tips
- Add subdivisions before applying displacement for more detail.
- Use a cloud texture for natural terrain and noise for organic surface details.
