The Armature Object is Blender's skeletal animation system. It consists of bones organized in a hierarchy that deform mesh objects through vertex weighting.
Where to Find It
Press Shift+A > Armature > Single Bone to add an armature to your scene.
How to Use
- Add bones: In Edit Mode, select the tip of a bone and press E to extrude a new bone.
- Parent: Select the mesh, then the armature, press Ctrl+P > With Automatic Weights.
- Pose: Switch to Pose Mode to rotate and position bones for animation.
Pro Tips
- Name bones descriptively (e.g., 'arm_L', 'leg_R') for easy identification.
- Use bone layers (M key) to organize complex rigs.
