The Zoom Tool controls your view magnification in both the timeline and program monitor. It is essential for frame-accurate editing, detailed audio work, and navigating complex sequences.
Where to Find It
Press Z or select the magnifying glass icon from the toolbar.
How to Use
- Zoom in: Click on the timeline or program monitor to zoom in one level.
- Zoom out: Hold Alt (Option) and click to zoom out one level.
- Zoom to region: Drag a rectangle around the area you want to zoom into.
- Fit timeline: Double-click the Zoom Tool icon to fit the entire sequence in view.
Pro Tips
- Use \ (backslash) to quickly fit the entire sequence in the timeline window.
- Hold Ctrl (Cmd) and use the scroll wheel for smooth zooming without switching tools.
