The Select Box Tool is the primary selection method in Blender. Drag a rectangular box around objects, vertices, edges, or faces to select them. It is the default selection tool and essential for all 3D modeling workflows.
Where to Find It
Press W or select the Select Box icon from the toolbar on the left side of the 3D viewport.
How to Use
- Select: Click and drag to draw a box around items you want to select.
- Add: Hold Shift while dragging to add to the current selection.
- Subtract: Hold Ctrl (Cmd) while dragging to remove from selection.
- Toggle: Hold Shift+Ctrl to intersect with the current selection.
Pro Tips
- Press A to select all, AA to deselect all.
- In Edit Mode, use 1 (vertices), 2 (edges), or 3 (faces) to switch selection modes.
- Hold Alt and click an edge loop to select an entire loop of connected edges.
