Free move:GAxis constraining:G
The Move Tool (also called Grab) translates selected objects along the X, Y, or Z axis. It is the most frequently used transform tool in Blender.
Where to Find It
Press G or select the Move icon from the toolbar. The keyboard shortcut is the most common way to use it.
How to Use
- Free move: Press G then move the mouse. Left-click to confirm, right-click to cancel.
- Axis constraining: Press G then X, Y, or Z to move along a specific axis.
- Precise move: Press G, then type a number (e.g., G X 2 moves 2 units on X).
- Grab widget: Drag the colored arrows (red=X, green=Y, blue=Z) in the viewport.
Pro Tips
- Hold Shift while dragging for finer control.
- Hold Ctrl while dragging to snap to grid increments.
- Use G G to slide edges along a surface in Edit Mode.
