Extend Edit quickly trims a clip's in or out point to the current playhead position. It extends the clip to fill the gap or trims it back to the playhead for precise timing adjustments.
Where to Find It
Place the playhead at the desired new edit point, select the clip you want to extend, and press E.
How to Use
- Extend out point: Place the playhead at the new out point, select the clip, press E. The clip extends to the playhead.
- Extend in point: Place the playhead at the new in point, select the clip from the left side, press E.
- Multiple clips: Select multiple clips to extend them all to the same playhead position.
- Limits: The clip must have enough source media to extend — if not, it extends to the maximum available.
Pro Tips
- Use Extend Edit for fast-paced editing where you need to match edits to music beats or dialog cues.
- Extend Edit is faster than manual trimming for precise playhead-position edits.
