Adjustment Layers apply effects to every clip beneath them in the timeline. They are essential for applying global color grading, film grain, blur transitions, and other effects that need to affect multiple clips simultaneously.
Where to Find It
File > New > Adjustment Layer, or click the New Item button in the Project panel and choose Adjustment Layer.
How to Use
- Create: File > New > Adjustment Layer. Drag it onto a video track above your clips.
- Apply effects: Drag effects onto the adjustment layer — they affect all clips beneath.
- Trim: Trim the adjustment layer's duration to control where effects are active.
- Mask: Apply a mask to the adjustment layer to limit effects to specific areas.
Pro Tips
- Use adjustment layers for consistent color grading across multiple clips — apply Lumetri Color to the adjustment layer.
- Stack multiple adjustment layers for complex effects — one for color, one for film grain, one for vignette.
