The Eraser Tool removes parts of vector paths and shapes. Unlike pixel erasers, the Illustrator Eraser splits paths into separate segments that remain editable vectors.
Where to Find It
Press Shift+E or select the Eraser icon from the toolbar.
How to Use
- Erase: Click and drag over the area you want to erase.
- Size: Use [ and ] to adjust eraser size.
- Precise: Use the Eraser on selected objects only to limit its effect.
Pro Tips
- Select the object first to erase only within that object.
- Without selection, the Eraser cuts through any object on the artboard.
