The Rectangle Tool creates rectangular vector shapes. It is the most commonly used shape tool in Figma for creating buttons, cards, images, and layout elements.
Where to Find It
Press R or select the Rectangle icon from the shape tools in the toolbar.
How to Use
- Draw: Click and drag on the canvas. Hold Shift to create a perfect square.
- Corner radius: Drag the corner handles inward to round corners, or set exact values in the Design panel.
- Independent corners: Click the corner radius icon in the Design panel to adjust each corner separately.
Pro Tips
- Hold Alt while dragging to draw the rectangle from its center outward.
- After drawing, you can change corner radius, fill, stroke, and effects in the Design panel.
