UV Unwrapping projects a 3D model's surface onto a 2D image plane, creating a UV map. This map determines how textures wrap around your 3D object.
Where to Find It
In Edit Mode, select the faces you want to unwrap and press U to choose an unwrapping method.
How to Use
- Mark seams: Select edges and press Ctrl+E > Mark Seam to define where the mesh splits.
- Unwrap: Press U and choose Unwrap for the standard method.
- Smart UV: For complex objects, use Smart UV Project for automatic unwrapping.
- Layout: Arrange UV islands in the UV Editor to optimize texture space.
Pro Tips
- Hide seams in less visible areas of the model for cleaner texture results.
- Use the UV Checker texture in the Viewport to check for stretching or distortion.
