An Area Light emits light from a rectangular surface, producing soft shadows and realistic falloff. It simulates light coming from windows, softboxes, or large light panels.
Where to Find It
Press Shift+A > Light > Area to add an area light to your scene.
How to Use
- Shape: Choose Rectangle or Ellipse shape in the Light Properties panel.
- Size: Scale the area light (S key) — larger size = softer shadows.
- Power: Adjust Wattage based on the size of the light (larger lights need more power).
Pro Tips
- Use large area lights positioned near the subject for soft, flattering portrait lighting.
- Rotate area lights to match window angles for realistic interior lighting.
