Smoothly transition your video or audio in and out using opacity and volume keyframes.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1:
Select your clip in the timeline.
Step 2:
For video fade: In Effect Controls, click the stopwatch for Opacity, set keyframes at start and end.
Step 3:
Set start opacity to 0% and end to 100% for fade in (reverse for fade out).
Step 4:
For audio fade: Use the Pen Tool (P) to click on the audio waveform line, then drag down to create fade.
