Key Settings
The Ruler Tool measures distances, angles, and spatial relationships between points in your image. It is indispensable for precision work — measuring alignment, checking print layout distances, and ensuring geometric accuracy.
Measurements appear in the Info panel showing coordinates, distance, and angle.
Where to Find It
Grouped with the Eyedropper Tool. Click and hold the Eyedropper icon, then select Ruler Tool.
How to Use
- Measure distance: Click and drag from start to end point.
- Measure angle: Hold Alt and drag from either endpoint.
- Clear: Click Clear in the Options bar.
- Straighten: Draw a line and click Straighten Layer.
- Units: Toggle in the Info panel menu.
Pro Tips
- Hold Shift to constrain to 45-degree increments.
- Check print margins by measuring from canvas edges.
- Keep the Info panel open for real-time readouts.
