How to Trace an Image (Image Trace)

Convert raster images, sketches, or photos into editable vector artwork using the Image Trace feature.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Step 1: Place your raster image into Illustrator using File > Place.
2. Step 2: Select the image and open the Image Trace panel (Window > Image Trace).
3. Step 3: Choose a preset (e.g., High Fidelity Photo, Black and White Logo).
4. Step 4: Adjust the Threshold and Paths sliders to refine the trace.
5. Step 5: Click 'Expand' in the top toolbar to convert the trace into editable vector paths.
