The Slice Tool divides your artwork into rectangular sections for web export. Each slice can be exported with its own format and settings.
Where to Find It
Nested under the Eraser Tool in the toolbar.
How to Use
- Create slice: Click and drag to draw a slice around the area you want to export.
- Auto slices: Illustrator creates automatic slices for remaining areas.
- Edit: Use the Slice Select Tool to move and resize slices.
- Export: File > Export > Save for Web to export individual slices.
Pro Tips
- Name slices descriptively in the Slice Options dialog for organized export.
- Different slices can use different formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF) for optimal quality.
