How to Export Assets for Developers

Select the frame, group, or layer you want to export. You can select multiple items by holding Shift and clicking each one.

Scroll to the Export section in the right sidebar (bottom of the Design panel). Click the '+' icon to add an export setting.

Choose your scale: For web, use 1x (72 PPI). For retina/high-DPI displays, add 2x or 3x exports. For icons, export at multiple sizes (1x, 2x, 3x) to support all devices.

Select the format: PNG for images with transparency (icons, logos), JPG for photos (smaller file size), SVG for scalable vectors (best for icons and illustrations), PDF for print or multi-page documents.

Name your exports clearly: Use descriptive names like 'icon-search', 'logo-primary', 'button-bg'. Figma will use the layer name by default, but you can override it by typing a custom name.

Click 'Export [Layer Name]' or 'Export [X] layers' button. Choose your save location. Figma will export all selected items with your specified settings.

For developers: Use Dev Mode (toggle in top bar) to let developers inspect measurements, copy CSS code, and download assets themselves. They can select any element and get exact specs.
