Detach Instance breaks the connection between a component instance and its main component. After detaching, the layers become a regular group that can be edited without affecting the main component.
Where to Find It
Select an instance, right-click, and choose 'Detach instance', or press Ctrl+Alt+B (Cmd+Opt+B).
How to Use
- Select: Select a component instance on the canvas.
- Detach: Right-click and choose Detach instance, or use the keyboard shortcut.
- Edit: The layers are now a regular group. Edit any property freely.
Pro Tips
- Detach only when you need a one-off variation — otherwise use component properties for flexibility.
- Detached instances no longer receive updates from the main component.
