The 3D Layer Switch transforms flat 2D layers into 3D objects that can be positioned, rotated, and animated in three-dimensional space. Once enabled, layers gain Z-axis position, X/Y/Z rotation, and can interact with cameras and lights for stunning 3D scenes.
Where to Find
In the Timeline panel, click the 3D Layer switch (looks like a cube icon) next to any layer. You can also go to Layer > 3D Layer.
How to Use
- Enable: Click the cube icon to toggle 3D for the selected layer
- Position: X (left/right), Y (up/down), Z (forward/backward) axes become available
- Rotation: X, Y, Z rotation controls allow full 3D orientation
- Orientation: Use the Orientation property for 3D rotation without gimbal lock
- Auto-Orient: Right-click the layer > Transform > Auto-Orient > Orient Along Path
